VOTING RIGHTS PROJECT
The Voting Rights Project was conducted for the Data Science for Social Good (DSSG) program with the Science Institute. The project aim was to improve an R software package called eiCompare, which detects racially polarized voting and vote dilution. The development and improvements to the R packages involved using R programming script to make functional and iterative changes while utilizing user-centered design and UX design workflows to better understand user needs when interacting with the eiCompare package. Some of the stakeholders included political scientists, researchers, data scientists, legal professionals, land surveyors, and policy-makers investigating voting rights within the United States.
